Ye-ah.........I know. That's what makes the title so hilarious, to think that someone once had the guts (or insanity) to name it that. As it is, in our POC world, I have been warned (and hence, I don't) about mentioning that movie around the office.
As far as "In the US, spook meant something quite different"......that might be "outside intelligence circles". The TV show "MI-5" is that in the US, but "Spooks" in the Commonwealth. My Father once teased me by telling me on the phone, "Well, if an ex-Spook can't get pass a simple automobile gate system, what can you do?".
A musical with at least 50% of the movie of numbers. On TV, I am sure they would slash it to bits for commercial space but it provides a nice mid week getaway as is ALTHOUGH Audrey's best scene is probably her opener in the flick. A 7.0.
This was a good movie.. about a real incident from 1300s France. A pair of warriors have a falling-out, that eventually results in a legally sanctioned jousting duel. It has a barely recognizable Ben Affleck as a nobleman (& Matt Damon with a 14th century mullet), lots of cool period costumes & castles.
It seemed pretty committed to historical accuracy, there are some pretty graphic hand-to-hand combat scenes that might disturb young kids, but.. It was uploaded to Hulu recently.
The high-school-misfit is a theme that could be used in many eras,
but this movie goes back to 1990. So, the kids are trading cassette tapes
(perhaps some of today's high schoolers wouldn't even know what a cassette tape is),
and nobody has a cell phone. The word "text" would've meant one of the school books
you were issued at the start of classes. (and even though I graduated in the 1970s,
that world didn't look much different from mine).

I recently watched this film. Neither Affleck or Damon seemed right for their respective roles in my opinion. A forgettable movie.
I've seen this movie listed as both 'Burning Plain', and 'The Burning Plain'. Not sure what that title discrepancy is about, but.. I thought this was a really good story about the long term damage marital infidelity can have on kids. Good acting (Charlize Theron/Jennifer Lawrence), dramatic scenery- split between coastal Oregon & New Mexico. I saw it wasn't well reviewed by fans or critics, but I found it really compelling. It's on Prime for a few more days.
While this flick isn't at all in my line of taste as far as horror flicks go , it still happens to be a fairly good effort overall , even if it may be a bit underwhelming in delivery IMHO .
Obviously essential viewing for fans of John Carpenter .
episode! Saw that part of it decades ago, so I knew what was coming but still, it was rather well done for a limited budget effect. This one was rather tough to watch for after the reality of the BTK serial killer, the presentation of someone who likes to watch victims die slowly hit just a little too close to home. Maybe in other films, like Morse "Deadly Slumber", that concept of being off camera for the kill makes it easier to take. Sigh, killers and their insanity and the need to remove absolutely all sharp objects in the house......they would really have a job in my place with the knives, machetes, swords, axes, spears, etc... A 8.1.
An oldie but a goodie rewatch. Others, including the leading lady, raked it over the coals, called it the least favorite of the Matt Helm flicks but it's my fav. For one thing, here's a female agent, in a 60s spy flick, who doesn't need the boy to save her! She's fine all by herself. A 7.5.
