Last evening, I dedicated time to view "JFK" a cinematic creation directed by Oliver Stone. In a single word, the experience was truly remarkable. While it does possess imperfections in its adherence to historical accuracy, the film adeptly weaves a captivating narrative. Noteworthy performances were delivered by actors of the caliber of Kevin Costner, Tommy Lee Jones, Gary Oldman, Joe Pesci, Donald Sutherland, John Candy, and Kevin Bacon, rendering the cast truly exceptional and star-studded.
With a runtime extending beyond three hours, there existed the potential for monotony; however, the film sustained an engaging allure throughout its entirety. The achievement of such a feat requires a director of exceptional skill, which Stone unequivocally demonstrated.
I love Wes Anderson, and consider all of his previous films to be good, and several of them to be brilliant. Maybe I've just had my fill but Asteroid City was an incoherent stinker. So glad I didn't bother to pay money and see this in a theater.
For however one may see the movie, it is a great mark to its making to be able to tell a story without understandable dialogue. Whether it is the story Hammer intended or the story the watcher comes away with, it is still a great piece of directing. Special appearance by Uncle Beazy. A 7.5.
Watched the 1st half Thursday and the 2nd today and that may be a mistake. Got to the end of the flick and realized, I didn't know who did the first murder. Had to go back and fast forward to figure out when that was figured out. Something about too many names to keep track of. Otherwise, decent, if a little bit mixed up in laying down the guilt. Ie, a racketeer may not kill anyone but they certainly cause enough misery......so are we suppose to feel bad for them when bad things happen to them? A 6.5.
Friday night:
"Maggie Moore (s)" https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14181816/
I thought had a Napoleon Dynamite/ Fargo sort of vibe to it. Kind of funny. I like Jon Hamm, and Nick Mohammed, and they seemed to work together well. I'd say a 6/10
Saturday night:
"One day as a Lion" https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15783426/
Meh...that is pretty much all I can say about this. There was a bit of humor at how Scott Caan's character was such an eff up. Other than that, I'd say pass, 3/10
Sunday night:
Rewatch of "13 hours: the secret soldiers of Benghazi" https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4172430/
Great movie, great cast, great cinematography, lot's of action, what does one expect, it's a Michael Bay movie ? Very entertaining. I give this one a 10/10
Finally saw Barbie this past weekend. Enjoyed it more than I thought I would. It was clever and the acting too-notch. But like a lot of popular movies, I wouldn’t pay to see it again. Once is enough for me.
Pretty darn good......if one can go for a spy movie on reality and not action. Of course, it is based on history, Israel seizing, trying, executing Eichmann. Further, points of it can be rather chilling with the cuts to scenes of how evil the Nazis were. A 9.0.
