A low budget sci-fi joint..
Basically '9os Body Snatchers.. a meteorite delivers the soul snatching seeds to a small, temporarily isolated town. And the seeds turn locals in to homicidal plant people.
I had dim expectations, and it was pretty bad (& boring). But it was a free watch..
I might watch Michael Caine and the late Glenda Jackson in The Great Escaper, which is based on the true-life story of a British World War II veteran who 'broke out' of his nursing home to attend the 70th anniversary D-Day commemorations in France, in June 2014.
I think 90 year old Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson who died in June 2023 aged 87, could teach many of todays so called actors a thing or two.
Last night I watched a 2012 movie from Mexico called En el Ombligo del Cielo (In the navel (bellybutton) of heaven). Sort of a comedy drama about a stressed and uptight young lady who works in a Mexico City advertising agency and a building janitor. No sex, no violence, no crime, no special effects, no car chases. Just a simple story about these two people who get stuck on the rooftop of a skyscraper on a Friday afternoon. They are seemingly from different worlds, but they are stuck on the rooftop all weekend and eventually get around to realizing they both have some heavy personal issues to deal with.
I found the movie on Amazon Prime, and watched the original version in Spanish. I am guessing subtitles in English are available if you don't mind watching films with subtitles.
Good, ole time swash buckler with the son of Robin Hood, a gorgeous (for 1949) leading lady, and a perfect ruthless villain who isn't surrounded by too many incompetents. An 8.3.
I know I was clowning on this movie before it came out, but just saw it on Hulu and exceeded all expectations. Beautifully filmed and exciting/tense all the way through. Definitely one of my favorites out of the entire Prey series, along with Predators (2010) and the original Predator.
Boring, fairy tale like flick of a modern major criminal problem where the hero takes on the world almost single handed and succeeds. Thank god for subtitles for it enabled me to speed through the flick. Knowing how that world really runs, the hero's effect on that world was totally unrealistic.....but to be fair, certain other elements of the flick were to the mark. A 5.0.
