The Banshees of Inisherin on HBOMax.
This movie continues the tradition of overrated Irish films, and does it in grand style. For what is to be made of a 'film' that winds slowly thru deeply-rutted thematic lanes with overused lines like 'Who will remember you fifty years from now?' punctuated by dazed silences only to be jarred awake by immoral and senseless actions of self-mutilation terminating in, what else, but a fire to burn it all down?
I'm now convinced the sole motive is to fool the viewer, upon pain of being seen as unintelligent, that to think otherwise is uneducated and shallow, uncouth and anti-art. And as a metaphor for 'the troubles' it fails miserably by being amazingly, too obvious and too obscure... so who really cares?
In the end it seems more a reflection of itself, as it lost, finger by finger, any semblance of reality, till the audience is left to either revel in it's own 'oohs-and ahs' or wind up with a head shaking WTF?
It was sort of pretty but there is nary a giggle so enter at your own risk.
On Tubi “Valdez is Coming” Burt Landcaster, Susan Clark, a newbie Richard Jordan
Have watched it before—Burt Lancaster the most graceful actor with any body movement
He played an Hispanic “Bob Valdez” in a cast with other Hispanics and it was very strange this viewing because I noticed Lancaster’s bright blue eyes and those of other actors both Hispanic and not—-
Think most blue eyes I have seen in movie not Scandinavian…

This seems to be a movie you either love or hate—
My husband watched it and laughed a lot—said it was really dark humor
This is same guy who did “In Bruges” with Farrell and Gleason and that movie was bleak as well
Getting notice on the awards circuit
On Tubi
British film “31 North, 62 East”
Revenge film about British SAS unit sacrificed by corrupt politician…lead was female—unusual I though— low budget and not as violent as Jason Stratham type
Good afterlife love story flick...................with cool warbirds! A 7.6.
