Saw “Mulan” on Disney+ with our daughter, SIL and grandson—he and his dad were bored
My daughter and I were looking forward to it but we weren’t as gratified as we anticipated
Don’t think it had to do with knowing the plot—
I think as word gets around fewer and fewer will be willing to pay the $30 Disney is asking—even if you own it
Maybe some viewers will want to rewatch but not us...
We-ll, it loses something in translation. The nudity is plentiful, the backgrounds are great, but the horror level is pretty well down around zero. The two big English stars in the movie, Frank Finlay and wonderful John Phillip Law only appear in the last third of the flick and then, Frank only for one scene. One goes through the entire movie with hope that it is all worth while, that the lessons of the chess school pan out, but one ends up quite disappointed. Say a 4.0.

I wasn't talking about the movie; I was talking about the book.
"Hide Your Smiling Faces" on Peacock. Would not suggest watching it....... and still have no clue as to what it was about. Maybe someone who has watched it can explain the deeper meaning of it to me.
I think my main objection is being fed the names of famous people in the credits only to find that they have such small parts in the flick. Now, maybe that is just luck in that the Friday night movie did the same. It's a nice modernization of the story, in concept and at 53, Tracy Scoggins looks absolutely fantastic, but beyond that, the flick does sort of drag. Except for the playing of Hyde, that was great, pure evil without a care in the world. Say a 6.6.
Was lucky to catch The Hunt for Red October, today. This is a great movie, been awhile since I saw it. The cast is loaded with talent and Sean Connery is amazing.

Yes excellent film; I too have seen it a few times and really enjoyed it.
I like looking up various genre movies on Wikipedia because then I can find other movies with similar subject matter.

I remember when the Kursk sank and it seemed as though it took forever to find the crew. Watching the movie would likely be depressing, although from a historical perspective, it would bring up details that we never knew about. The Wikipedia page had a lot of information.

You're right about that...there were parts which were difficult to watch...but one is always hoping for a better outcome regardless of the impending doom.
