Every morning a pair of Canada geese sit on our neighbors roof and serenade us for at least 20 minutes and than they take off to the nearby lake.

Poor curlytail lizard was stuck in my screened porch today and was really scared because it couldn't get out, so I picked it up gently and put it outside of the screen and it ran into the bushes.

Due to the fact I live in wine country there are lots of wild life around me here I enjoy.
The jack rabbits are every where , they are unafraid of me because I leave them alone .They feed the cyote and the owls and hawks and other preditors that venture through .
Actually saw a california condor once ,just glideing on by , didn't flap once. at least 10' wing span.
I feed the smaller birds and of course my chickens and geese .I love all their music.
The pair of geese I raised I call "two tone" ,one honks after the other in a lower tone ,you hear this all day . They alarm at every thing .
I've had a red tail eyeing my chickens lately ,and I know I have a farrel house cat in the area but my dogs are pretty alert , but you know life happens .
Haven't seen many rattlers lately but the summer is young and it's just starting to warm up into the 100s, We'll see.
I like the mountains better for the abundance of wild life and lakes with fish but for the time being I will enjoy it here.

Have outside kitty, that was a stray, we got her fixed but she won't come inside. I leave dry cat food out for her in daytime. I saw 2 wrens eating her food out of the bowl! She didn't mind!

Woodchuck in yard, hiding, digging under Gazebo, ate some grass, under again. The neighbor's cat was spying on him. Took him home, worried they might get into a scuffle. Then, the woodchuck stood straight up, so cute. I threw some carrots out--not sure if they eat them, but it's all I had at the moment.

I was eating very early breakfast this morning, had my patio door open, but of course a screen was there. I was sipping my green tea when I noticed a fat skunk walking up my 2 stairs of my patio and just pausing and looking around and than looking right at me. Yes we made eye contact and I set frozen and drooling on my chair and praying she would not spray at me . It seemed forever, but finally she moved on. Oh my gosh what a tense moment

My neighbor's cat (RIP) used to chase the groundhogs all around the yard. What a hoot.

In the meantime, our resident groundhog has moved from under my back porch to under the shed. I'd have never thought he'd be able to fit under there ...

I turned the corner to go down some outside stairs right next to a wall that lots of birds nest in. Partway down the steps I noticed a fledgling bird on the steps! It flew and flung itself out of the way. I felt bad for it, but glad it didn't get stepped on!
