Wait. What? I obviously am not paying attention? First, I wasn't talking about Clark County and second, I was speaking about multiple offers and bidding wars with regard to real estate. But thanks for your input.
You need to get your mind about the fact Nevada is dominated by and driven by us ex Californians. Your other choice is Idaho or Wyoming or such. And Nevada will be driven by Clark County not the rest of the state.

And I like part of the upper north. But we will not deal with anywhere with real winter. But go ahead if you wish but not you are going to be living in a State dominated by us ex Californians. And it is going to be at least moderately liberal. The hard conservatives will continue to dominate in the real rurals but will have no significant vote in the state as a whole.

Well, yeah our housing value is rising. Not nearly as much as our house in Hawaii (so we can leave CA out of the damn discussion).

Exactly WHAT is the obsession with CA? We were "welcomed" and warned not to "bring our CA ways here to NV" which is weird.... cause you know... from Hawaii..

The state voted blue, so I'm confused on the whole issue.

I'm confused as well, Mikala. I'm so far removed from the "California way" I don't even fit here and I was born here. I'm the outsider now. I still like the Carson Valley for so many reasons. For its beauty, primarily. You made an excellent choice when you were searching for your new home.

Not interested in Idaho or Wyoming but thanks for the suggestion. I'll work on my mind, though. sheesh

I do miss country life, though and that particular part of the state is simply beautiful.
Just today in the local news they said the inventory in Reno/Sparks is down 74% from last year and there are only 165 homes for sale. Some are buying sight unseen and there was a specific example where a house that sold in 2015 for $255k recently sold for well over asking of $446k in 2 days, multiple offers. Stories of over 10 offers on houses. 30 year veteran agent says he has never seen anything like this in his career.

Year over year, prices are up 11%.

Wow. I'm sure Carson Valley is in a similar situation.

I'm not worried about people coming from CA. I'm worried about people coming from Portland. But prices have risen so fast, maybe the flow from there will slow.

And by the way I would think we should move the state capital way south. Maybe NLV or a new city along the 95. Will start pushing that in legislative elections and those of the Clark County Commission. My nominal boss just got elected to the house. Will be pushing at her though she is a clear Republican.

I still have the view that I won't live anywhere with real snow, ice and cold...And I know what I mean - about a decade and a half in Rochester NY.

And you obviously are not paying attention. Las Vegas is an eastern suburb of LA.

Where did the largest plurality of Clark County residents come from? And they well exceed the native born Nevadans.

Why do I get this feeling you're treating people from Northern Nevada like your stupid little brother to the north???

What you describe is exactly what's been happening here. Imagine a house selling for one million over asking price. That bidding war took place in Berkeley. Mind boggling. No doubt, the realtor was drooling and calculating the commission on that sale and the sellers were in a state of euphoria with the sound of ca-ching reverberating in their brain.

I know the inventory in my area is low because I'm constantly getting flyers and phone calls from agents inquiring if I'm interested in selling. Don't think I haven't thought about it but for reasons other than all the weirdness today. I have three nieces who live in the Reno area and it would be nice to have family nearby.

I'm certain realtors are scrambling the same way in Nevada. Looking for sellers during a very strange time in life. I think more people would move if it weren't for the pandemic. It should be interesting to see how this unfolds after (or if) life becomes normal (whatever normal is) again.

On the other hand, actions have consequences. Trolls need to know they will have push back. Some trolls take a "holier than thou" attitude and think they have the high road. It's a bit of a sport to push their views onto you. For example, someone from LV who thought Northern Nevada got allocated too much money for highway construction because the capital is up here and thought more should be allocated where there are more people and business... Does that person think the capital of CA should be in Los Angeles rather than Sacramento? How about New York City instead of Albany? Miami instead of Tallahassee?

Besides, their posts are often swiss cheese anyways.

Stupid is subjective, and not in violation of the TOS.

Now.... back on topic!
