NH isn't really "red" as in Republican. NH is more Independent leaning towards Libertarian. NH is very anti-tax, almost at any cost. For years there was no publicly funded Kindergarten because NH didn't want to tax anything to pay for it.

NH would most likely vote Blue if it weren't for fear of more taxes and gun laws. If Democrats just laid off the pushing for more gun control and found a way to assure the people of NH that they would not get any additional taxes and they would be just as likely to vote blue instead of red.

The main reason they have the drinking age higher isn't to keep alcohol from 18 year olds. It's because you have a lot of high school seniors who are 18 who have friends that are under 18. If the drinking age was 18 there would be high school seniors buying alcohol for 14 and 15 year olds who are NOT old enough to drink. That's why anyone who is 18 and in the military are allowed to drink on their base.

I would guess that would be the tax policy, and an above average level of cynicism, distrust (or in some open hostility) for government.

I got news for you buddy. Those 14 and 15 year olds always find a way to get alcohol. I know I did when I was that age. At least 25% of all alcohol sales are from teenagers. You don't think 14-18 year olds don't have friends or brothers that are 21 and can get booze for them?

Some do, but it would be much easier for them to get alcohol if the drinking age were 18. I was once a teenager, too...and the main place kids got alcohol was sneaking it from their parents, so they could never sneak too much. I also remember as a teenager that myself and all my friends thought we were invincible and that we were idiots, lol. Making it easier for teenagers who have just started driving to get alcohol would lead to a lot of children killed by drunk drivers.

The argument that kids should be able to drink if they can vote doesn't really make a lot of sense. Kids can drive at 15-16 and one could argue that if they can drive they should be able to vote too. Then some would argue that if a girl is old enough to menstruate and become pregnant then she should be able to consent to sex or get married. It could go on and on.

Any 18 year old who joins the military and is willing to risk their life has different rules. They ARE allowed to drink beer on any military facility that is owned by the US government. Also, there are lots of illegal aliens who can't vote who are able to drink. I'm not sure now if it were you who made that argument or not, so I apologize if it wasn't. The drinking age used to be 18 when I was younger in some states. It was raised because there were way too many kids driving drunk and killing themselves and each other. I have kids age 18-22 and kids can be terribly irresponsible and not all parents do a good job teaching their kids right from wrong. Would you want to meet a drunk 18 year old who thinks they are invincible and wants to drive as fast as they can handle on a road late a night with your family? I sure don't. Yes, there are still plenty of drunk drivers, however as people get older they tend to become a bit more responsible and careful as a whole. I think 21 is the right age for these reasons.

Absolutely. We used to get booze by going "fishing" when we were young. We dressed up, put on makeup and stood out side of liquor stores and asked guys to buy us booze. I know-not the smartest thing in the world- but we all did it. You could always find someone to buy it for you. If not that, friends, older family members, sneaking from someone's parents who had a bar, etc. No matter what the drinking age -kids will always get their hands on booze.

It's hard to push your socialist agenda when you have a well armed populace.

Oh now you are just trying to stir up trouble, lol. Vermont is just as well armed as NH is and while Vermont isn't anywhere near as liberal as most of the country believes it to be, it is a bit more liberal than NH is. You know...NH should also legalize Civil Unions like Vermont did. All those tourism funds from gay couples coming to visit could allow NH to cut those property taxes, lol.

Default obama or McCain?

I hear that obama is ahead in the NH polls, but thats likely out of what 3000-6000 people? What are you guys hearing on the street? In your place of work? Is race ( Color ) becoming an issue there in NH? Here in Nevada the race problems have started months ago and getting worse. I hear it daily! obama must win because its the Blacks man to rule America- now thats racist, I cant say much because the persons saying that are from my job.

Anyway besides polls who do you feel will win NH?

I almost picked VT when deciding to leave CT. I had a sheet of all the states the Brady-Bunch hated and VT ranked higher than TX or NH. Ny concern was that the socially liberal would turn any day toward totalitarian liberal and VT would adopt draconian gun legislation like CT, MA or CA.

Now I'm watching NH bend over and take it from a guy who promises to not only reinstate the Clinton era AWB, which only result was to royally **** me off, but make it permanent.

I'm sick and tired of living in a "blue" state and not because of nonsense like gay-rights. Let anybody marry anything I really couldnt care less. I'm sick and tired of it because "Blue" is synonymous with an dover-bearing mommy saying "no, you can't have that" and when you ask why they reply with "because I said so."

I'm not giving into any more "assault weapons" bans. Not state level and not federal level. I'm so sick of this crap.
