each driver has to take it. so my wife and i will both take it. 10% comes off, and the class stays on record for 3 yrs. class costs maybe $30 online.
as for NJM, my friend got a quote and it was more expensive than Geico, and our friend told us the dividend check they send is tiny.
that's not to say NJM isn't worth it - i'm just encouraging people to shop around and see what's out there. given the range of quotes i got, that tells me many people are obviously overpaying.
i get about $150, idk is that tiny?
seriously, I'm not gaga about any company except this one. they've proved their worth to me 10xs over. most companies can take a lesson from them.
yes they are older, we are in our 40's and we live in a semi-rural area which helps bring the cost down. i have 2 BOYS turning 17 in 2 years, check back with me then on my "cheap" rate!
it could just be coverage. do you have comprehensive and collision?
I should mention, my yearly rate includes comprehensive and collision on BOTH cars. $500 comprehensive deduct., $1,000 collision deduct.

well, it depends on if you're paying $150 more than you would with another company.
i feel the same way about REI, but i wouldn't pay more for their products because I like the company. If Dick's has the same thing for less money, i'm buying it at Dick's, not REI.
Of course, with auto insurance, you don't want to buy it from some fly-by-night that won't be there for your claims, but i think Geico is a reputable company. I had a great experience with nationwide, but i don't think they insure in NJ.

Enjoy your rate while you can!! Insurance rates are horrendous for young men.
That's what I thought. There used to be some special qualification to get NJM insurance, too.
if you work for certain companies, you can get NJM. i think it's any company based in NJ? or something like that. i work for a company that qualifies, which is why my coworker got the quote. i've heard good things about them, but if i can get cheaper from Geico, i'm not sure it's worth moving. I'm in big time cost-cutting mode, and i despise insurance companies, so I'm looking to trim every dollar from those as possible. I dropped towing coverage even though it's like $10/yr, cause I already have AAA. I'm contemplating dropping rental car coverage which is another $30ish per car, so $60 in my case. It was nice when we only had 1 car, but I'm not sure I need to rent a car now if one car is out of commission.
