Interesting. I've always seen Jersey for what it is: two worlds. One rich and one poor. It's just that Jersey is so damn small in size, these areas are all most right next to each other. (Think of Essex County) However, I find Jersey to be an okay place to live. Funny about what that guy from Ohio said. If you think Newark is bad, take a trip to Cleveland... Besides, didn't their river caught on fire?

That's also true. Just because you live in Newark, doesn't mean you live in a slum.

And if you think Newark and Cleveland are bad, try ATLANTA!

Isn't this topic about distorted views of NJ well I am simply saying even people in NJ are have opinions about people that live in the northern part of NJ and NY...When I mentioned I worked in NY to some I was amazed at the response.

This is interesting, of course, but does anyone know where to find quality of life based on cost of living adjustments? Are there statistics on that? If we look at this based on figures alone, we might say, "Oh those poor Mississippians--they're just poorer than dirt." But there's more to QOL than income alone, and rent in Jackson, Mississippi is a heck of a lot cheaper than in Cranford. KWIM?

I have lived in NJ all my life and I think the "Big Hair" is just a NJ thing, mostly North NJ thing.
