This online teaching has failed the students big. How are you expecting student to learn when they receive two 30 minutes session a day?
I think this pave the way for home schooling and get ride of the teacher union for good.
No definitely not. Every school district is doing it differently. I have children in 2 public school districts and 1 kid in a charter school. 1 school district is doing video learning. 1 is sending assignments and self study and the charter school is doing a combination but mostly self study.
But none of that changes the fact that families with 2 working parents simply can not homeschool.

No one said you have to homeschool. But if the teachers lives could be at risk is a month of school worth it.
sure, a group that has lost nothing wishes to maintain that situation. am i wrong, have they lost something?
im not an opposing person to teachers but im not sure why their opinion should matter here. im also not saying that the schools should open, at this point they may as well close the rest of the year. i just think its kind of silly for them to give their opinion as if they have more weight than anyone else in this decision.
You're alowed to give yours ,they can give theirs.
But that doesn't make them any different from any of us. Their opinion matters the same as any of us, not more or less
Well, except that they lose the least from the closing since they still get paid either way
BS , and not all are getting paid .So my opinion to you is to shut up about something you know very little about . Not all Teachers work for the State .The discussion is SCHOOLS and TEACHING , HELL YES THEIR OPINION MATTERS.
Three in my family are Teachers and in their opinions schools need to reopen ....and yes in the best interest of the kids. Some kids parents are just not teachers , some kids can't sign on with out an adult ,some kids don't have a computer or internet access and sadly some students are safer at school.Think!
They are exposed to kids, not seniors. The kids probably much healthier than the teachers.
The people who die so far are mostly senior and/or they have tons of existing health conditions.
If the country continue to shutdown, we will face a bigger problem than the COVID-19
Yes kids are likely asymptomatic. They can still have it. Not saying the country should continue or not continue the lockdown. This topic is about schools only.
So does this mean teachers are officially non essential employees ?
