Does she have to commute into work, if not. Why move to NJ at all stay where she is. Bergen broadly safe but some areas maybe not. For example while people think it's safe, but West NY and Union City is not exactly a safe place for a single female to be walking around at night.
There are two North Bergens. One which is the gentrified new construction developments and the other which can be a little seedy. Either way in North Bergen you need to be street smart.
Thanks for the replies. The apartments we found were around JFK Blvd, so good to know that not the greatest area. I'll check Cliffside.
She cannot telecommute from CA. She will be working a short walk from the Port Authority in Manhattan.
I just found a similarly priced apartment in Weehawken, with a much shorter commute. She went to school in Hoboken, so is familiar with that area. So now I'm thinking that Weehawken will be a much better option. Basically, she needs a one bedroom under $2000 with parking.
Weehawken is a better option. Still I would ask her to be cautious.
