I wonder if the OP has learned all the Spanish/Mexican/New Mexican cuss words yet. Most Anglo natives of the region know and use those as skillfully as their Hispanic counterparts. In that sense, at least, you could say that I'm fully bi-lingual--especially when my car or computer screws up . . .
The article does use that wording (that it is a more supportable theory) but how can you ignore the written, historical evidence of its use in Spain from long before the Mexican War.
