Do you have any family members that you love in spite of their short-comings? If you do, then you understand that you can love something in spite of it's "flaws". For people that love N.O. and choose to live in it, they have embraced their own individual redeeming qualities.

I won't share the things that make N.O. "redeemable" for me. Those are mine alone. You'll have to find your own.

^^Exactly. It's many things, and not all are material. I knew when I first arrived, as soon as I got out of the cab that I'd love it here. I had the rose shades taken off pretty quickly, but I still love it. It's in the blood, I can't intellectualize it. There is fantastic architecture, food, music, art...but you can find that stuff anywhere.
Ok, maybe not the food.

Theres a reason pretty much everyone who visits NO comes away loving the joint. I worked down there recently and I came away trying to figure out how I can move down there.

My mom took me to No when I was a kid for the Worlds Fair in '84, I've considered myself a huge fan ever since. Love at first sight.

I do want to move there! I have visited twice and I love the spirit, the music, the humidity...everything! But I have a 12-yr-old son and with everything I have read, people don't seem to recommend bringing children. I have read so many negative and downright scary things....I was ready to pack our bags but now I'm not so sure. Just wondering if there were others who live there by choice....people say I'm crazy for wanting to live there. Am I????
