Or for anything you send, send it in a way that they're required to sign for it. That's your only proof in case some bozo says they never received it, or it wasn't received on time. It's worth paying for that.
That's great. I know you've been at this a while. And HPD came through for you? Congratulations, and enjoy your new home. My experiences with BG have been beyond horrendous, but HPD has been very good. They pick up the phone, they check, they answer questions, they give you your status...glad it all worked out for you!

Doesn't BG basically become your landlord if you get approved? Good luck with that!

No, I think once you're in, you're done with the marketing agent for the subsidized units. You then deal with the building management in paying your rent, renewal leases, repairs, etc. I had a recent interview for another property (not one of BG's, thank goodness), and was told they didn't even require recertification--once it's done it's done.
HPD rules. I just a got a nice letter today from them on an appeal. I know nothing is guaranteed, and I might still not ultimately prevail, but at least they're requiring the marketing agent to reopen and reconsider my case. I'm going to request a different intake person this time around. HPD does seem to be interested in instilling some rationality into the system. They're a good check against marketing agents who don't know what they're doing, are not following the guidelines, or are acting out of personal bias. Always worth it to appeal to the top.

Hey there, when you appealed @noirkervin did you cc: your appeal letter also to HPD? and should i? I am currently writing an appeal bc they came up with an incorrect amount for my income, way higher than I actually make.
Im including updated paystubs from jan til current (interview was 3/29) a breakdown of the average check and what that equates to as far as my salary goes. Any suggestions on what else to include?
I am also a NJ resident (Born and raised NYer) so am pushed all the way to the bottom (33 Bond I was 2,00X)
Yes call 311,ASAP THEY IGNORED ME AFTER MY APPEAL,THEN SAID I WON BUT THEY HAD NO MORE APARTMENT,AND THAT I WAS ON WAITING LIST.FOR APARTMENT WHEN I KNOW IF YOU APPEAL YOU PUT a lock on the apartment and they can not rent it till you have been though all your appeal, and HPD is th ed last appeal, you have to lose for them to rent it to another person
That happened to me, now I am on the waiting list but they wont tell me what number I am. I'm going to read the rest of the comments but if you didn't answer this, what did you do next what do you suggest I do?
