Stop-and-Frisk is unconstitutional and an excuse to racially profile other black people in NYC, however through that same policy the police have successfully achieved the greatest gun bust in NYC history. This will certainly be used when Bloomberg and Kelly appeal the recent ruling on this policy. Do they see this as a necessary evil to protect NY citizens? Or do they not view it as evil at all?

When you read passages like:

"When 3 white cops tell a black teenager that he looks out of place in a Hispanic neighborhood, where he lives, something has gone horribly wrong."

It's easy and (rightful) to disagree with them on the subject.

Nothing evil in profiling. Its just reality. Why stop and frisk an old jewish lady while a hoodrat is nearby...who are you going to have a better chance finding a gun on?

That's exactly the point. You target those committing the most crime and the city has been cutting back on cops due to a lack of funds so you either increase the funding for cops or find some way to make up for their presence to keep crime under control.

What part of reasonable cause is hard to understand? In America, you simply cannot stop, search, or otherwise accost citizens without a damned good reason. Period.

The "damned good reason" is the greater good, namely for the law-abiding citizens of the neighborhoods where most crimes occur. There people are overwhelmingly in favor of stop-and-frisk. Stop-and-frisk targets blacks and Latinos because 92% of homicides are caused by blacks/Latinos.

The law-abiding citizens in these neighborhoods get stopped and frisked as well, that's why more than 90% of stops don't lead to any arrest. Yes, people in these areas ask for more police presence. But the feelings about the stop and frisk method are very mixed. Actually, it leads regular people who are not involved in any illegal activity to distrust the police because they get harassed on a regular basis.

Exactly. Something that the opponents of Stop and Frisk like to omit.

So the people committing the crimes aren't responsible for anything right? Let's blame the cops because the criminals have no self-control.

Just because arrests aren't made doesn't mean that crimes aren't stopped.

Cry me a river. The facts state that Blacks and Hispanics commit the most crime and are also the victims of the most of the crimes, so Stop and Frisk goes a long way in protecting people such as yourself from the criminals out there. I wouldn't exactly call that racism. It's targeting the groups who commit the most crimes and doing so effectively with less manpower.

I guess some people actually like the idea of more crime because that's what they're used to so they'll do anything to just it... Savage, subhuman living conditions. Some distorted mentalities out there that's for sure.
