You can't tell that someone is Jewish by their appearance, or even always their name.
Jews can be black, white, Asian, etc.
While ultra-Orthodox/Hasidic Jews often have a distinctive dress, most American Jews (like at least 80%) are NOT Orthodox.
Most American Jews are either secular or Reform (liberal branch of Judaism) and dress like mainstream Americans.
Plenty of Jewish people have found themselves in a homeless shelter.
