I agree with your first statement but disagree on your second. If you have any criticism of Jews anywhere its considered antisemitism but everyday in this country, which has a horrible history on racism towards blacks, people go out of their way to attack blacks and group them ALL into the worst type of people. This forum is a clear example. Look at how many posts are about negative black people as if the hard working, peaceful black people don't even exist. This has gone on for centuries in this country.
That isn't just from so called conservatives, but a lot of that is from the so called left. Leftists want to use Black people as poster children for socialism and anything to do with the government and poverty.
I do think that socialists have taken over those who represent themselves as Black academics and it does make it look like all Blacks want is collectivism or programs for this or that. Perhaps the best course of action is for individual people to speak up about who they are and what they do, and to not left socialists/collectivists essentially bully them into not speaking out.
I understand the women get a 4th grade education. Yiddish is their first language. There grasp of English is terrible. And there is no justification for not teaching English, other than these sects are total cults. Why? Because if you can't speak English, you can't escape. And if you are one of the few who do escape, you are considered "dead" by your family. And I'm not talking about abandoning Judaism. I'm talking about abandoning the particular sect/cult.
The Lubavitch are actually pretty good. They are educated, speak English, welcome all Jews into the fold, and try to keep non-religious Jews interested in Judaism. The others just really suck - big time.
Yes I know, this is a Dog-Eat-Dog World. Onty the strong will survive, I know that threads can post hurtful words. But they are
Just WORDS, is not like the thread/post is coming to harm you at home. People vent at times, But they are only...WORDS.
Okay, wrong again (wow, you're on a losing streak).
I'm not Torah observant.
I think you are doing a little too much assuming, and too little listening.
So a frei yid who knows nothing about the Tanakh and what it means to be a Jew. Reading this thread, you probably listen to everything the ADL feeds you and look for anti-semitism everywhere. Have you ever lived in Israel (not simply visited)?
Okay, it seems you DO need a lesson because you are again wrong.
Those (modern) Orthodox Jews living in the West Bank very much believe in both the Land of Israel AND the State of Israel.
They call themselves "religious Zionists", or "dati leumi" (in Hebrew) which means "religious nationalists".
All of the men from these settlements DO serve in the army (and also work), and in fact, they tend to be the MOST enthusiastic and high-achieving group of Jews in the Israeli army.
Yet nearly all Israelis who are in the IDF who have to cover Hebron come from outside of the region.
Doesn't mean anything. One thing I've noticed is that the damage done by a Haredi upbringing lasts beyond any changes.
The greatest damage is that Haredi are wholly ignorant about virtually everything yet truly believe that they are learned and educated.
It's a shame.
Then you have no understanding what it is to be Haredi. They are not ignorant. They choose to not learn about things that have nothing to do with their lives.

Yes, I lived in Israel for 5 years. Was last there earlier this year. Husband is Israeli.
Why do you assume that just because I am not currently Torah observant that I know "nothing about the Tanach and what it means to be a Jew"?

Too many misconceptions. Depending on the Hassidic sect, most women are educated on what they need to survive and live. Secular subjects are covered at the bare minimum of basically a GED level. Depending on the sect, Yiddish is the first language learned since that is the language spoken at home. English is learned afterwards as they mix with others. Children are very adept to learning in their formative years. I could speak or understand four languages by 1st grade.
English is not the barrier, Culture, brain washing and lack of information is. As to being considered "dead", it depends on the sect.
IMPOV Lubavitch (Chabad) are the untrustable ones, but that is a subject for another thread (which does exist in another forum).
