Incorrect.

Most ultra-Orthodox in Israel do not live in the West Bank.

Many "settlers" in the West Bank are modern Orthodox, not Hasidic or ultra-Orthodox. (there are a few ultra-Orthodox settlements)
There are also many secular and traditional Jews living in the West Bank.

NYC/NYS cannot easily correct the issue due to politics and block voting. There are numerous threads on CD that have covered this and covering it again will change nothing in NYC/NYS.
Agree 100%.

But yes, Hasids are good at working the system. This is because standing up to them opens one up to charges of anti-Semitism. The Hasids aren't shy of playing the anti-Semitism card. What politician or journalist wants that? Better to focus on other welfare cheats, and look the other way on Hasids.

So I think Hasids get away with it partially because no one in public life stands up to them.

Conservatives shamelessly bash blacks and Hispanics on welfare, the race card be damned.

Liberals eagerly bash Christian "trailer trash" and "white trash" on welfare. So what if liberals are called "anti-Christian"? Liberals wear it like a badge of pride.

But charges of anti-Semitism are more potent than charges of racism, homophobia, Islamophobia, or "anti-Christian." Why that is, is an interesting topic in itself.
Agree 100%

Did NOT say most Charedi live in the West Bank. Most of those living in the West Bank are Orthodox who believe in the Land of Israel but not the State of Israel. This is the wrong forum to give an American vs Israeli Orthodox lesson nor the words to describe them by.

You left out that Orthodox communities are one of the few demographics left that vote "as they are told" so to speak. The fact they often live grouped together in insular communities makes them often a powerful voting block. No politician is going to ignore that sort of clout.

This is why for years you have seen persons running for NYC mayor or NYS governor head to Williamsburg and other Hasidic neighborhoods. Whomever the Rebbe says is "it" is where the votes will go...

Off topic but its rather interesting and telling when many posters can post here the differences of the Jews in our community. The low class moochers which are different than the regular working class jews.

Why can't this be done when discussing other races? Like the differences between low class blacks and hard working middle class blacks??

I have a real issue with any group of people that place religion above being a normal, productive member of society and then mooch off the gov't.

It's rude to talk like this about any group of people.

It's just considered acceptable in America to slander Jews, but not black people.

Okay, it seems you DO need a lesson because you are again wrong.

Those (modern) Orthodox Jews living in the West Bank very much believe in both the Land of Israel AND the State of Israel.
They call themselves "religious Zionists", or "dati leumi" (in Hebrew) which means "religious nationalists".

All of the men from these settlements DO serve in the army (and also work), and in fact, they tend to be the MOST enthusiastic and high-achieving group of Jews in the Israeli army.
