According to this a little over 1400 cases and 20 deaths. Naturally most are in Miami as thats the hotspot for tourists. What we dont know is those that left NYC to go down there for Spring break may get infected there then bring it back to NYC with them starting the whole cycle all over again due to the 14 day incubation period
NYC is doomed. Too many people are transmitting the virus. The mayor is incompetent, just watch and wait.
People aren't currently transmitting the virus. The virus was already transmitted before health care officials knew that what was happening - back when most of those infected were still asymptomatic. The mayor nor the governor can be blamed for that.
As Cuomo said late last week, before he went into straight panic-mode, this isn't like the stock market where the numbers can go up (or down) depending on how people are feeling that day. The tests are reflective of the number of people who'd already been exposed to the virus and may I add EXPOSED TO THE VIRUS BEFORE THE SHUTDOWN. As more people are tested, the number of positives increases just as Cuomo said would happen. This mandated shelter in place came too shut too late for NYC. It's a preventive measure that has been done after the fact which means it's basically ineffective at this point. The number of positive tests are a testament to that. Had the shutdown been implemented back in late January and early February, the test results would undoubtedly be much lower in NYC. However, leadership in NYC government were not aware of this type of thing at that time and can't be blamed for this. Life happens and sometimes things are completely out of one's control.
