I told my wife, NYC is just a big nasty place, and I have no interest in visiting again. I have no idea how so many people put up with the shortcomings--including back breaking taxation.
those cities are cleaner in some ways and dirtier in others (more graffiti, dog **** everywhere).
one thing is for sure though, they are safer than NYC when it comes to violent crime. pick pocketing is rampant though.

He can't until he retire's from the NYPD. Once he retire's he can go as his pension will go with him anywhere he wants to go.

I can retire any time I want. I'm almost a year over. It's been gravy for awhile now.

Lol at anyone who thinks Madrid or Barcelona or London is classier than NYC. Sure, I guess as a foreigner or tourist perspectives tend to be rosier, but Barcelona and London are notorious for rampant street muggings and pickpockets as you say. As if that weren't bad enough, police really do not even pretend to care. Salaries in many Southern European countries are also a joke. Now, if you want a slower and more enjoyable lifestyle in the day to day without the American obsession with competition and live solely for work? Then yes, those places are much better...even London is a bit more laid back than NYC.

Droves do seem to be fleeing the city, a good "drover" and his or her dog can go a long way in "keep'in them doggies rollin". I'm just hoping a good "herd immunity" is in place before bigger drives come along. As you can see below, their already arriving in the "burbs".

I've been to Paris once and I was amazed at the about of dog waste on the sidewalks, I spent the whole time there walking looking down

There are a few neighborhoods in NYC that are notorious for not pooper-scooping, those areas have nothing on Paris

So true and accurate. Real estate agents won’t mention this but high end real estate over 2.5 million has been falling in NYC mostly in Brooklyn since 2017. Now it will accelerate downward.

A gentleman that lives close to us also has an apartment in The City.

I wonder what he thinks about Donald Trump being elected President?

He shares the 82nd story floor of Trump Tower with POTUS--the other penthouse.

I also wonder if the prices of Trump Tower have suffered with all the hassle of getting into the building and the high security?

I'm not leaving NYC. It has to get a lot worse than this for me to leave. And if things do get rough, I'd rather go to another country than anywhere else in the US. I've been to other places and other countries and yeah, they're ok. Some things are better there than here but all in all, I love NYC, warts and all.

I'm not going anywhere. Sometimes, I "dream" of living somewhere else but who am I kidding?

My dad was a door man/elevator man in a building on central park West. As a kid I would spend summer days on the roof pemthouse apartments, hanging out with the kids whose parents lived up in them central park views were beautiful. Then in college I worked at Cravath Swaine and Moore who had views of it. That is a place to live if you can afford it. I like Toronto a great deal people are nice. I am looking at moving to the South West or Southern California. I have friends there. I have put in for transfers. I love NY though. If people really hate it here they should leave because I wouldn't live somewhere I hate for more money. What good is money if your dead. This experience should be teaching us that. It would be bad living and dying in a city just because you love it. Yet, imagine remaining in a city you could have left but staying for more money and having family or yourself die. Where is the logic ? I love this City warts and all and would return with glee on vacation frequently
