So we're now assured of four more years of rising crime and a declining economy.

Why is Cuomo fuming? He caused his own downfall.

Anyways, congratulations to those who voted for Hochul, this wasn’t even close. This cements NYs status as Dem stronghold. If Zeldin couldn’t dislodge Houchul despite the circumstances, I don’t think others will have a better chance anytime soon.

It actually is quite close. She is winning by less than 10%...

Not really. If you look at the myriad of issues in NYS and NYC in particular, this is still a resounding win for Hochul. Close races are less than 5% differential and even then it doesn't matter, because she wins irrespective of the circumstances.

Not surprising. This state is just a Democratic stronghold lol. Zeldin put up a good fight, though.

It’s down right embarrassing at this point. With everything that is wrong today & for her to win shows it will never change.

Back then most Dem and Rep candidates were fairly moderate. The extremists usually ran as third party candidates. People who got tired of the incumbent could easily vote for the other party without compromising their beliefs too much. Now the parties are so polarized and the candidates such extreme opposites that fewer voters are willing to cross party lines.
