What a stupid question
Maybe it is because it works, and they care about the well being of their communities. And on that mind set then everyone should be for control because no one wants to get shot at.

My neighbor's granddaughter was killed by a deranged stranger at Sandy Hook. My heart goes out to their family, but my brain won't allow my emotions to surrender my 2nd amendment right.

Sandy Hook was a gun-free school zone. Criminals and deranged people really don't care -- as we've witnessed at Sandy Hook and Aurora.

We could not have prevented it. The school was a gun free zone, which the criminal (Lanza had stolen the guns and murdered his mother -- he was a criminal before reaching Sandy Hook) conveniently ignored. Criminals will ignore gun control.

selling weapons will prove much easier than purchasing them.

Sort of like alcohol during Prohibition. Rumrunners, gunrunners.

This is a lesson that we don't waste a vote to prove a point or it's my right to vote for anybody I want. This was a chance to just vote in a middle of the road conservative, Romney, who wouldn't have an extreme agenda changing the constitution like this stuff going on. I mean, reality check, what else would anyone with open eyes expect from this extreme liberal, socialist, nanny state Obama agenda from the first term. This is just the beginning of the crap hitting the fan second socialist term. Same applies to Cuomo in NY when he goes far left. This is suppose to be the progressive state. Duh, the guns aren't the problem, lack of security in schools and malls, etc. is the problem. You'll always have crazies, ban all the guns, and some crazy nut will bring a huge flame thrower with him to do the job.

Yes we could have if we had reinstated the assault weapons ban, and the Mother supposedly brought him to shooting ranges, and if he was mentally ill, why would he be allowed to go there?

Simple question, how would the assault weapon ban have prevented it?

BTW, people with mental illness are allowed to drive, which is of greater concern to me than his mother taking him to the range.

The primary weapon he used was a Bushmaster AR-15, which is an assault weapon, which is also semiautomatic, which allowed him to kill more victims quicker. One of the State police lieutenants even said it. Do your reaserch before you question someone.

The assault weapons ban was weak and loophole laden.

If you're concerned about mentally ill people going to the range, perhaps you should ask the government to repeal medical privacy laws.
