Ah, the paranoid gun pansies of America. "Aww, dey wimited my buwwetts and took away my shoot shoot."
Enough gun punks who aren't capable enough to handle a bb gun (or a hot glue gun) but they get to be big machas thanks to misinterpreting the 2nd amendment.
It's about HELPING the govt by getting to hide behind a tree with a musket to kill Englishmen. Not to overthrow OUR govt. It was about a SPECIFIC tyranny. The one we already had. Democracy supposedly cured us of such paranoid notions. Guess not.
Vive le revolucion, batman!
or... you know, a personal hobby.
I don't find myself to be a minuteman or part of a militia, but I do enjoy going to the range and shooting some targets. Why am I now potentially a criminal because my guns that were legal (according to the federal AWB, mind you) a few days ago are now not legal, based on absolutely no factual grounds other than a kneejerk reaction.
There is a real weakness in background checks in some states, mentally incapable, drug users (killing in Manorville comes to mind). Some states with fewer than 5 people with mental health issues, that would never happen in NY, we have plenty.

The National Instant Criminal Background Check System, which federally licensed firearm dealers must use to check the credentials of potential gun buyers, doesn't include millions of people legally barred from owning guns, researchers and advocates say. Fourteen states list fewer than five people flagged for mental-health issues.

To which I'll counter with the usual quotes from TJ (just for fun)...
Quote:
The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Thomas Jefferson
Quote:
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
Thomas Jefferson
Quote:
All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.
Thomas Jefferson
Quote:
The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it always to be kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. I like a little rebellion now and then. It is like a storm in the Atmosphere.
-- Thomas Jefferson, letter to Abigail Adams, 1787
Quote:
& what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time that his people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms.
-- Thomas Jefferson, letter to Col. William S. Smith, 1787

People are too stupid to own guns. This is proven by our 2 party system and who we've elected to "lead" us.
