My sister calls me on her way home from work. I don't mind it one bit. I know when she gets home she has to take her daughter here and there and cook dinner and take care of household things.

I am happy she calls me when she does because it gives me the chance to talk to her.

I also call people when I am on a pretty long drive (3 hours)

It is a non-issue to me. I appreciate anytime I get to talk to my family as we are not exactly local.

I have people who will call me when I am busy, usually just to chat, but then will proceed to yell and scream at their kids while on the phone with me. So most of the conversation is spent with me listening to their kids in the background.

probably should be in psychology

some people MUST be on the phone to maintain homeostasis

i would never purposely decide to make a call while driving just to have a meaningless conversation that i can have at any other time

these are probably the same people that walk to the car and immediately strap the phone to their ear, back the car out of the space with phone to ear not really paying full attention while backing, leaves vehicle, phone still stuck to ear, walks to grocery store entrance totally oblivious to surroundings, checks out, still yapping... checkout girl asking you something but you arent paying attention because you are deep into your phone convo.

you leave, phone still strapped to ear, fumbling for keys (hopefully a criminal isnt nearby) . get in car, backs out with phone still on ear someone blows horn at you because you dont see them as you continue to talk to friend about nothng

Distracted driving isn't the topic here. Nor does only calling people while driving mean always being on the phone while driving. I drive for work and probably spend at least an hour or 2 in the car most days. I make a call on average less than once per week.

Therefore, I feel like a time-filler, as opposed to someone calling to genuinely want to talk to ME or find out how I am.

If she called me back when she left the dentist (or whatever) on her ride home, to ask me to finish my story, then I might not mind so much.

So, I take her calls if I feel like it, but I often don't. This same friend told me it's most convenient for her to answer chats on facebook than emails, etc. So, I'll send her a quick message on facebook chat - and get no response. Yet, I can see she's been on facebook posting tons of pics of her kids.

Sooooo, moral to this story, is - for those of you saying it's the best time to call people - of course the person you are calling will be annoyed with you, if they feel like a time-filler, to be used at your convenience, instead of someone you genuinely care about.

Just sayin'.
My DW has a close pal like this. Surely that pal, and those like her, know that what they are doing is obvious and they are just using folks like my wife for time fillers?!

Some women sure have big balls! LOL!!

I call my father from the car every week on the way home from work. I call him in the car because it is quiet. In fact, it is the only part of the day that IS quiet. Once I get home, I have dogs barking, kids wanting things, dinner to make, etc.

I use driving time to catch up with friends all the time and vice versa.

I see no problem with it at all.

I'm just glad they do call.

Have you asked him if it's quiet for him?

Dump them.

Reason one: They only call you bc they are bored and try to kill 2 birds with one stone.
Reason two: They are a holes with no regard for the lives of others.
