Anybody else ever hear “breakfastses”? I hate that, and the person who says it knows it is grammatically wrong and makes him sound like someone who never went to school.
I worked with someone who said things like "I didn't eat breafix this morning." It took me a while to understand what he was saying - so ignorant.
Don't know why it raises my hackles but it sure does.
I agree. I think it was originally a ghetto term for those who didn't speak correct English and left the possessives off their words. Instead of them saying, "That's my baby's daddy," it was, "That's my baby daddy." I wish those terms would just fall out of use.
Just saw a misused word on Facebook that happens to be one of my annoyances: I'm having my dog spade (instead of spayed). Or when people say the past tense as "spaded." I know that somehow they just don't know better, but that's one where I try to gently teach the correct word, by saying something like "Oh, I really hope the spay procedure goes well."
When people say this, you can't tell but when they write "I just payed the bill" - drives me nuts!!

Yeah. "No offense, but . . . "
(What is this flattering comment they're about to make?)
