Here's another one that I frequently see on forums such as CD.
People for some reason must think it sounds affected or something to say "one would do such and such". They will write "you, general you, not you specifically would do ,"
I don't get it. Why not keep speech as simple as possible?
I've said both myself. The reason I say "one" and the general you is to make sure the person whose post I am responding to knows I am not accusing them of something or targeting them specifically. So many people tend to take comments personally, (and sometimes as personal attacks), even when it's obvious they aren't meant that way.
