I doubt many democrats support taking away all guns from citizens.
But they would ban the automatic magazines and machine guns which are needed only by those citizens who want more firepower than the government/law enforcement has in the event they want to overthrow them.
Why is it all or nothing regarding guns in this country? Why can't some common sense be on display with what types of "protection" are available for purchase in this country?
Machine guns are already illegal. Under the NFA, it is illegal for any private civilian to own any fully automatic weapons manufactured after May 19, 1986. Know the law. Criminals don't care about the law, so it's up to the rest of us.
I'm heading to Virginia this weekend to go to an amusement park. Carowinds announced in Aug it wouldnt open based on its discussions with Gov Cooper.
Movie industry is open and releasing movies. You wont see them in NC because of Gov Cooper. You can cross into South Carolina and Virginia to awatch your movies though.
No fans in any stadium in NC. Most states are allowing 25-50% in their facilities.
Some areas of NC have seen no deaths and very little new cases...and have just as much restrictions as areas that are hot spots.
Cooper changed his tune on gyms when the gym industry announced they were opening on Sept 1 using a loophole in his restrictions. He caved the same day. Nice governance there.
If you like over regulation for little to no reason...then Cooper is doing a great job.

The magazine used in the Las Vegas massacre to quickly shoot 50-100 bullets is legal isn't it?
I thought the issue came up and of course taking it off shelves for purchase would have been akin to the government mandating castration of all males.
I could be mistaken about that particular instance but there are many legal accessories that function the same as machine guns.

Don't need a high capacity magazine (or even a gun) to kill a lot of people. Just look how many lives Cooper has killed. Suicide has skyrocketed up 600%. Domestic assaults and child abuse cases are way up as well.
Way to go, Governor Cooper. Destroy the lives of many to save a few. Yep, makes sense to me.

Where are your sources for these statistics? Also, great job of a false equivalency here. I can only imagine how you'll handle your irrational anger after Election Day this November.
Are you being facetious with those stats? That's over a 7 year span, which if broken down to a year-to-year comparison, could be the expected increase. Not to make light of it, but that would indicate for a state of 10 million people, the average suicide rate goes from 1200 per year to 1400 per year....over a 7 year window. Those numbers are not even within the stratosphere of the damage Covid is doing in terms of death and long term health issues.
And finally, those stats are not C-19 relevant since C-19 is a 2020 virus meaning yearly suicide stats will not be available until 2021...unless there exists monthly extrapolations that are being estimated.

It was meant to clarify the previous poster that tried to blame the Governor on a "600%" increase in suicides.
Those stats are simply a normal progression and if you looked at the link you would see politics had little, if anything, to do with the rate.

Oh Ok, we're on the same page about the numbers.
