Hi everyone, my family and I just moved a few months ago to Falls Church in Fairfax county and have not had great experiences with the community/neighborhood. On several occasions, people have acted super friendly at first and then completely bail on committed plans. They've been flaky and overall seemingly "fake".

We're looking for real, genuine, deep, non superficial friendships with other young families and I'm concerned that maybe we made the wrong choice on where to live.

Hoping this forum could provide some perspective on whether this is truly the culture OR are we just connnecting with some bad eggs?

Thanks!

I would calm down and not have so many expectations. If I just met some people and they were wanting to do things too soon I would just disconnect.

Where/how are you meeting people?
What plans are you trying to make with them?

Don't push things too fast but if you're having issues with all you meet it might just be your approach.

Also it'd be good to know where you are coming from so it is understood what you are used to.

Having lived in 15 different places in the US, I think you'll find people who are more or less flaky everywhere depending on who you connect with. If I go out of my way to make plans with someone, and they cancel with little or no notice, well I just move on and eventually make friends with people who can commit to plans.

Watch the original show on AFFLUENZA....it aired on FSTV in about 2000. Quite a few parts were filmed in NoVa. I went in the Giant last fall, on rt 50, besides getting over charged, I was thinking, what a disgraceful pile of ****e.

It was a TV Documentary, likely available on YouTube, that may explain the large numbers of wanquers in NoVa.
