"Those people" you're speaking of live just north of NYC in one of the most well known areas on the east coast along the nation's busiest commuter rail. So, ya know, there's that.

Where's Cranston?

San Diego is very transient in that, people move and don't come back.Plus lots of multilinear generation friends.. Here I have plenty of friends who take a 2 year contract gig and come back or a 3 year foreign assignment gig and comeback. But I don't know many "natives"

One of the funniest SD local shop gifts are bumper stickers that say "San Diego Native since 2013/14/etc. We should get those here.

Get one for Edinburg as well. I've been here 2 years now.

They take a rail line? Wow. That's so urban

I love how New Englanders try to id themselves as ny'rs and as big city people. Bless your heart

Must have never lived in California then.

No, I never lived in CA---only visited. I don't doubt that it must be difficult to make friends there, too.

This coming from someone who lives in Virginia - lol.

Clearly you aren't familiar with southern Connecticut. Greater than 50% of CT's population resides in the NYC metro. It's no different than most areas in Northern VA, which is actually a bit less urbanized than greater NYC and the coastal Northeast. That's precisely why I'm relocating - NoVa is more tax friendly and affordable.

Not sure why all the nastiness. Seems like there's quite the inferiority complex with some here.

Here is one describing population increases in Northern VA:

Yep. I'm one of them. High cost of living, insane taxes, traffic everywhere, loony politics - no thanks. It remains the most affluent state but the problem is the working class are leaving. Only the very rich and very poor remain, making it the state with the widest achievement gap in the nation.

But this thread isn't about Connecticut, so I'm not sure why it's turned into that. If you're trying to prove NoVa is more unfriendly than Connecticut, great. I'll concede. It's certainly not something to be proud of, and some here seem to be.
