I hate that stupid show...they show a lot first time home buyer buying a $600k-$850k home, young couple with kid(s) or going to have kid and stay at home. A bit unrealistic

Tonight I watched an episode that aired on Monday. A couple looked at homes in Alexandria, Lorton and an unnamed location "30 miles from Alexandria" that was near the Potomac. The first house appeared to be in the Rosemont section of Alexandria. Lots of shots of Old Town weaved in throughout the show.

My new favourite HGTV show, LOVE IT OR LIST IT. Unfortunately its filmed in pricey Montreal. Its amazing how unhappy these people are when they are getting the renovation for 50% off of market for renovations. HGTV is paying for most of the labor, not for materials.

My current HOA has an agreement from HGTV they have to review/sign because someone wants to be on House Hunters, and one of the homes they view will be in our neighborhood. I never knew the HOAs had to agree to allow the neighborhood and such to be shown on the show. May be part of why NOVA isn't a hot spot for these shows since you can't do much around here without an HOA involved.

For these kinds of shows (Love it or List it, Property Brothers, etc), they're so formulaic that all I do is watch the first 10 minutes (15 minutes for PB, to see the computer renderings) to see what they look like before, and then fast forward all the way to the end to see the end result

I just don't care for the fake drama they insert during the time in between...

That's why they are so good to have on as background noise. I can get stuff done then at the end watch their choices, make a guess and see the outcome.
