I saw it! It was a mid-20s couple who were renting a condo that was, I think, near the Ballston area. They saw two houses in Arlington (one North, one South, I believe) and one in the City of Falls Church, which they bought. Price point was around $600K.

During the "Arlington" segments they showed the monuments frequently, and a lot of shots of the couple walking on the Mount Vernon Trail. But at the closing credits they did show the couple walking down Broad St. past Pillin Thai and zoomed in on that (ugly) "The Little City" logo that Falls Church uses. So that was kind of neat - very authentic Falls Church.

I think if you were watching the show and didn't know the area, you might have thought Arlington and Falls Church were a little further apart than they actually are. But that was probably in part to create a little good-tv tension. Will they buy the house in far-off Falls Church even though it has a better basement? Stay tuned to find out!

I was quite amazed at the husband, who apparently needs 4 TVs in the same room to watch all the football during the weekends

The dude was dead serious, too - any house that didn't have a basement big enough to set up his 4 TVs in a row on Sundays, he wasn't buying.

"My First Place" episode called "Location vs. Footage" is rotating through Hulu now. It first aired in July 2010. A government attorney and his wife, a financial consultant for an international organization, were looking for their first home in Northern Virginia. They seemed like a really ill-matched pair...I wonder if they're still married. I found the woman to be absolutely insufferable -- she spent the entire episode whining about how Arlington was a wasteland, she'd rather just keep renting in DC, and how DARE the realtor show them properties in South Arlington (including Shirlington) when she made it clear she would only consider North Arlington. Their budget was $370ish and they wanted a 2br/2ba with updated kitchen. The realtor was like, double your budget or shut up. I spent the entire episode cringing and laughing, but mostly cringing.

They should do a reality show about DC-area home buyers and sellers. They could call it "The Deluded and the Crestfallen."

First they should fly them to Atlanta or Houston or somewhere just to show them what they could buy elsewhere, then bring them back to start hunting (a la "Property Brothers").

Great idea. I saw a part of an episode from Houston last night where they were looking at these large sfhs for $150,000. The guy was complaining about how for $150,000, he expected a much bigger yard. I wanted to punch the screen.
