Miller Beach is the decent part of Gary, everywhere else is a perfect example of a American rust belt town. I love the dunes along Lake Michigan, and I do recall a South Shore Train station being in Miller Beach. I say go for it, as long as your not in the rough parts you should be safe.

The shell still stands. Being used shortly in a movie. Last Movie was Transformers 3 the church was used.
