Funny, I was reading up on Whole Foods stock today, as the stock price is way down and the yield is up around 7%. The article was saying the store is so expensive it's sometimes referred to as "Whole Paycheck."

There is a Whole Foods near where I live in the DFW area and I can attest to the fact that it should be called "Whole Paycheck."

The place is out of this world expensive.

I'm also finding that stores like Kroger (in our area) are offering TONS more stuff that is organic and quality oriented as of late.

Kroger is one of the best stores around, in my opinion. They have decent prices and good quality.

I'm sure that I'd be happy with Albertson's in OkC as well.

Kroger's has been around a long time. I grew up in the Pgh. area with them in the 60's, and they were good back then too.

When I moved here in 1980, the grocery stores were far from the really excellent selection I had been used to with Wegman's but there was a supermarket out at Council and Expressway, and a few others, that had reasonably decent variety. All that vanished abruptly with the Penn Square debacle and simply never came back. I get what I need by running all over the place: Crescent Market, Mediterranean Imports (incredible selection of imported cheeses, bulk spices, etc), the various (east) Indian markets, Akins, and special orders by internet and from folks back home.

I AGREE!!!

I am moving from Philly back to Norman and will miss TJ's like crazy.
BTW-in PA you can't buy liquor or BEER in a grocery store. You can only get beer in cases from a distributor or buy a six pack to go from a bar or deli with a take out license (generally $8 a six pack). Liquor laws have nothing to do with it.

Just a side note. Wild Oats in Tulsa is now Whole Foods (if that wasn't already covered) which sucks cause Wild Oats was amazing. Whole Foods is what it is. The food is high quality. You get what you pay for even if it's overpriced.
