Pain is another topic entirely. Americans are over-medicated for that too.

Anesthesia, not analgesia. There is a difference.

Parents Reportedly Throwing 'Measles Parties' To Infect Their Unvaccinated Kids | ThinkProgress

I certainly remember these from my childhood. "Get these diseases as young as possible". The pox parties were around until the early 90s. My daughters Pediatrician was the one in the early 90s who suggested that I send my older daughter to a pox party because she was getting old for never having had it. He also said to let her little sister catch it from her. They both had it at the same time. 1990s is not all that long ago.

None of this is a new concept at all. It is also spans generations. Many of these young parents were never vaccinated themselves as children. Obviously, their parents generation wasn't. The concept is just being passed down in the family for some. Where do you think they even got the idea of Measles/Pox parties from?

My younger son got the vaccine.
My older son had it in the '80's and both me and my husband got it because neither of us had it as kids.
It was absolute misery!

Default So, it's over. But the real villain remains - distrust of Big Pharma

Heh. Just read this scathing summary of Big Pharma in America. And remembered back to this thread and some points I made that were challenged. I held that what brings otherwise educated people to listen to various voices of opposition to vaccines is an underlying distrust of Big Pharma. This was scoffed at by several posters who prefer to blame Jenny McCarthy as the most evil, powerful influence against educated minds. Right.

So read this and weep. THIS is the foundation for Jenny McCarthy and every other soapbox voice:

Big Pharma Is America's new Mafia.
