I miss my Dad, we were like best friends but I never really knew how much him being gone would affect my life. I've realized almost everything i do for fun he introduced me to it and we shared those experiances and in some instances i only enjoyed those things because he was there and I don't enjoy them anymore. It's just part of life.
I miss feeling safer....
As a young girl I could take long walks alone and not be afraid.....
Not a good idea when my daughter was young,
Certainly not a good idea for my granddaughter now....
Good fresh bread - I have to make my own
Fresh veggies - the humidity means they don't stay around long here
off the peg clothes - I'm a US size 12 and am regularly told that stores don't sell 'fat sizes'
I used to be a little short for my weight too. One of my co-workers was a gentleman about 50 years my senior, with a perpetual twinkle in his eye.
Every morning he would greet me with " so round,so firm,so fully packed. A real woman". His wife was pretty fluffy too!
I miss him. He had a way of letting you know that you didn't need to be a stick thin model to be a real woman.
I miss when there were more jobs than people to fill them.
As to the cigarette thing, when I was first sneaking them behind the Jr High they were $.25 a pack.
McDonalds hamburgers were $.10 and a huge banana split at Woolworth's was $.25.
I DO NOT miss no air conditioning in cars or homes.
Well, I kinda miss my young body, but I don't miss my young mind so maybe there's a trade off there.
Hmm, I think we are in a time warp. The local diner makes a to die for chocolate malted, there's still an ice cream truck in the neighborhood. Fresh bread is baked several times a week. We can walk in the neighborhood and drop in to visit with the neighbors. Of course, we are very rural.
I do kinda miss living on my boat, but it's kinda nice living in a house where there is more room. Better gardens with houses than boats. I dunno, it seems as soon as we miss something, there's something else to replace it with.
