When I started smoking they were roughly $18 per carton. I think they are around $48 per carton now. It sure would be nice if wages increased at that rate.....
I miss $0.45 triple scoop ice cream cones at Thrifty's (now Rite-Aid).
I miss In 'N Out Burgers. We dont have them in Oregon.
I miss the parties I used to enjoy in high school many years back. They were good times, and cannot be re-created no matter how hard we try.
I miss things.... For example when a man's word was his bond. Honor in the political system. Integrity in government. Love and compassion for your neighbor. A strong united community where traditional family values were the rule and not the exception. Heart felt patriotism. Times when one could be assured hard work always pays off. When greed had not corrupted the masses and justice was not so complicated. I miss that simpler time when everyone had a dream and the hope to fulfill it. I miss a lot of things...
The summers we had when I was a child. The '50's was a great decade for wonderful weather.
People I used to know that have either moved away or died. One of the most brilliant and entertaining women we ever knew died in her twenties. A heartbreaking loss.
Family get-togethers. They ended after my mother died. Obviously she was the glue. It did continue for a while, but one of the sisters-in-law was Hell bent on being divisive and it worked. It was years before everyone (except my brother) figured out what she had done. A very sneaky, nasty person. I don't miss her.
From a conversation Mrs. Tek and I had the other night: My 25 year-old body.
Hiram Walkers chocolate liqueur. Great stuff for slow sipping. As with most things we enjoy in life it was discontinued.
I miss going fishing, having a garden, having chickens, being able to walk in the woods, being able to photograph rodeos, and so many more things I can't name them all.
The cool toys I had...Tinker Toys, Lincon Logs, Tonka Toys made out of metal, and many others.
Wild Blueberry Pie.
Bumming airplane rides from strangers.
All of the camping trips my family took.
When drug stores had lunch counters where you could get a decent burger and fries.
