Of course it's the bank holiday during those 2 weeks, and it's also almost the end of the school break. So i guess all the parents are trying to make the most of the summer holidays.

The only good thing about that is the roads will be super quiet for commuting.

I'm going to spend a week in Cornwall in September - Plymouth and Torquay. Can't wait!
Of course, you'll be stuck in work in the middle of a heatwave! I don't know why people want to go places over a Bank Holiday - the traffic is usually a nightmare.

Oh, I'm so jealous of your hol in September. I'll let you know of the places to go in Plymouth. You've just got to have an Oggy Oggy pasty at least!

Well yes, I do like the sports involved - even hockey! But I've just become rather cynical about the event/circus.

I much prefer genuinely amateur athletics at my local sports clubs, and that's coming from someone who runs a lot in half and full marathons.

Is netball an Olympic sport? Rowing doesn't float my boat........ nor cycling. In the next week we get to real athletics.......... I'll watch some of that.

Have never been to Plymouth before; but Torquay is a regular haunt.

The week in September was booked months ago, when I still had a partner. But now I'll be on my todd But never mind, I'll have a bit more freedom to do what I want to do.

I'll be staying in Premier Inns, in both venues. Not exactly glamour hotels, but still quite expensive at 85 quid a night

But by all means give me some idea of what Plymouth has to offer! I'll be there for 3 days, followed by 4 in Torquay

Yes, the Athletics is my favourite. Rutherford and Farah are on later tonight...

I've stayed in the Premier Inn when I've visited Plymouth (there are two quite close to each other). The main place to visit is The Hoe - which is like a park overlooking Plymouth Sound, with amazing views. Just down from The Hoe, there a boat trips going on.

The other place (which is just by The Hoe) is The Barbican. It's got quaint little shops, cobbled streets and lots of places to eat and drink.

Thanks, Star!

I do quite like Premier inns, especially the one in Torquay as it has a Beefeater restaurant attached to it. So I can have a nice meal there, a few drinks, and then stumble into my room - all in one self-contained area!

But for now I've got 3 more weeks of drudgery at work (actually I do enjoy my job); but I need a break! I want a break from work, a break from my home, a break from routine, a break from running, cycling, rowing machines and all that boring healthy stuff!

Give me a death burger and fries, for a change, lol

Yes, I like Premier Inns for that reason too! I'm not sure which one you'll be staying at in Plymouth, but there are two in close proximity near Sutton Harbour that share a pub/restaurant. I didn't find the food at that pub to be very good to be honest (it's ok but there are so many nicer restaurants in Plym).
