Buying blouses and lingerie where they were individually boxed and a sales person had to take each one out of the box to show you! What a waste environmentally to have all those boxes, but it did make the items seem special to be presented like that.

I had one of these and remember the secret message was almost always something like "Drink your Ovaltine" but every week I listened carefully to the radio for the "Secret Message" from "Orphan Annie"

...................Hey Woodrow, I'm sure you remember the following:

Terry and The Pirates; .. Jack Armstrong;...Captain Midnight;... and of course as you mentioned: Little Orphan Annie..........with her 'Body-Guard?'Punjab and her Faithful Dog Sandy and of course "Daddy Warbucks".

I have to ask: Is that actually Your Decoder Ring???
if so....boy What a great reminder of growing up in the late 1930's and early 1940's.

Sadly that is just a picture of one. Everything I had in my childhood is long gone. The finishing touches were the massive 1955 flood in Ct lost everything except a few things I was able to carry. and later when I got older I lost those remaining childhood belongings in a Texas tornado in 2004 I do not even have any pictures of my parents and grand-parents.

Just memories remain along with some photographs my sister and older kids have.

I remember when keyboards were typewriters, and had cents signs on them.
I've never seen a PC or laptop with this symbol.
Maybe "our two-cents" aren't worth as much these days?

I'm so old I remember... Tires all tires had inner tubes.. and non-radial rotate them in a X pattern either clock wise around the car or counter clock wise.. and the spare tire was a real size tire. Air at the gas station was " FREE" and TEXACO was full service.. men had " White Uniforms " with tri-corner hats.. plus a metal changer at their waste.. and all ways tipped the hat.. They checked the air - all fluids -- washed the windows all of them with real soap and water and filled or added gas to your requirements.. 10 gallons " Sir" that will be $2.80 " Please" out of three..
