It's difficult to understand the mindset of parents who buy street walker clothes for young girls.
This is an interesting conversation, because just a few days ago my daughter needed a nice dress to attend a semi-formal occasion with her grandparents. She has just now out-grown the 7-16 sizes at the local department store, so we went upstairs to Juniors. Let's just say that nothing there would have passed muster with either her father or grandfather.

It took hours to find her something appropriate, and we had to visit every store in a very large and high end mall. Everybody was happy with the dress she finally chose, but it was so much harder than it should have been!

There is no premise for this question.
Not on my planet.

There seems to be a school of "thought" espoused by at least one poster on this thread that this is very normal and parents who do not get with the "teen **** program" will just breed little sneaks who will wear those trashy clothes anyway.

Not me. Not in my home. You see all money, one way or another comes from ME or MY HUSBAND.

Even if they are 18 have part time jobs or what ever.

There are standards in our family.

My husband does not run around without a shirt, I don't dress like Peg Bundy on that old show married with children, and my children also do not embarrass me or themselves - or to attract unnecessary attention.

It's entirely possible to be in charge of your home and of what your children wear while they live there. When they pay the mortgage we'll talk.

THAT's MY PLANET!

Yes and try to find a girl a nice pair of shorts that are more than a 4 inch piece of fabric. I had to suggest to my daughter that we could probably find something in the boys section but she doesn't like wearing guys clothes and found that a horrifying suggestion. Finally she found something acceptable.

It's funny because with all the so-called equality, you sure don't find it in the clothing department. For boys the shorts come down to the knees and there are all kinds of decent clothes but for girls it's all about having to reveal themselves as much as legally possible.

But girls don't dress like guys though.
Why would a girl want to wear baggy knee length shorts?
EVERY SINGLE store in the mall sells "BERMUDA SHORTS" most those go down to like a 3 inches above the knee.

Funnily enough, my teenage daughter thinks that's too short, too. She wears long cargo shorts when she can find them in her size. Otherwise, she wears jean capris and roasts all summer or knee-length skirts.

My shorts used to always be around mid-thigh which is around 4-6 inches.

I fail to see what this has to do with how my daughter prefers to dress.

Sure -- 4 inches for an inseam could be fine -- but not when the whole shorts is about 4 inches - 0 inseam.

Actually some do.

For a while my daughter was wearing guy's boxer shorts as shorts and they were fine.

And at that time Bermuda Shorts were no where to be found in the juniors departments -- I know because I took her shopping.
