I refuse to watch the video BUT, if anyone would like to take a paddle to these administrators' faces, I will gladly watch that. What horrible, evil people.
Given the choice this mother was given, I would take the jailing and tell the school officials to ____________ (bad words).
In any decent state, paddling a 5 year old student would have taken the principal that did the paddling to be the one that went to prison for Child Assault and Abuse. If the principal just ordered it and it was done by someone else at the school, the principal and who did the paddling would have been in jail for Child Assault and Abuse.
It is hard to realize, that there still states in the United States that are so primitive they still allow children to be spanked in school. I know they did it all over the country back when I was in school in the 1930s, but today it is not allowed in decent and modern states.
I don't agree with this form of punishment at all. And I can't believe it's still legal.
However, the thread title should be changed: Mother ALLOWED Son to get Spanked in School
And while I don't think getting paddled will do one bit of good for the child's behavior, I do wondering this experience will shock the mother into getting her sh** together and being a more responsible parent. Maybe guilt over the fact she chose to put herself over her son's wellbeing will convince her to turn over a new leaf. Plus, with all the publicity she's getting, maybe some good Samaritans will offer her parenting classes.

One look at her Facebook page will tell you that this is not going to happen.
That part is true, it was covered extensively on our local news. And, supposedly, prior warnings were given to the little boy. It still doesn't answer how 31 other states manage to handle similar situations without bringing out a paddle. Good grief, that thing looked huge compared to that tiny boy.
I will never understand how an adult smacking a kid thinks it teaches them not to smack other kids.
We got the strap when I was at school and it went on until we were big enough to threaten our teachers with physical retribution or to threaten retribution on the teacher's kids. I can still remember the look on the chemistry teacher's face when he was asked if he wanted to see his kids again.
And that is the reality of violence against children. It teaches them that violence is a suitable way of resolving a problem or a dispute.
Parents should always be able to make choices for their minor children.
No sorry, I was not clear. I agree that parents should always be able to make choices for their minor children. But paddling by a school administrator should not have been one of the choices offered to her in the first place. The choice should have been something like detention vs suspension. Then the mother gets to choose.
