Looks like Café 12 has bitten the dust, another failed attempt to run a coffee/sandwich business in this location. The latest version, Café 12, lasted about 18 months. This place is located on 12th Street (west side) between Locust and Walnut.

It's time for this location to finally reinvent itself into a bistro etc since the set-up is OK, but the restrooms location would need to be reconfigured.

Knew something was up when the $5.00 credit requirement kicked in recently followed shortly thereafter by an earlier closing time of 6 pm.

Workers here were so-so, kinda hated their jobs type of place. Owner friendlier with some regulars than others. Not a good mix to run a business based on consistent regulars of all types. Plus the consistent issue with this coffee bar was serving cold coffee on many occasions. They would nuke it for you but c'mon, make sure the $3.00 cup of coffee is hot!

Superdry is also opening in KOP.
I guess finally he settled for KOP instead of Center City.

Calypso St. Barth on Walnut closed. It is one of last few "lower-end" of luxury retailers left in Rittenhouse.

That stinks.. I had a feeling they would not make it long from the start.

Would have done much better in KoP, different type of clientele for it.

At this rate, This forum will become: Retail Leaving Philadelphia.
And if you notice, City Sports will be replaced by Modell's. So probably Modell's on Chestnut will close down. Leaving yet an empty storefront.

That would have a been a great place for a higher end retailer, like Ted Baker or the return of Burberry...

Well that's sad. Hopefully something interesting will replace it.

Modells could do some serious damage to the current Rittenhouse vibe.Ouch!

And the Gallery redo is going to be delayed a year or 2. The city should revisit that whole idea of turning the Gallery into a Discount Outlet. There has to be better alternatives.
