Yes, both had great ice cream cones plus Skagg's Drug Stores. I drove past that corner 2 weeks ago (we vacationed in N. Scottsdale during Easter Break) and it looked like crap. Where is the remnants of Kruft Dairy just a few blocks west of that location?

Roosevelt, I lived just south of Thomas, between 56th and 60th streets in '62. Sherwood heights is the subdivision. My parents lived there from 1962 til they sold in 2005. 5901 E. Windsor Ave. 1st house was at 20th Street and Monte Vista, south of Thomas Rd.

Remember the 1977 flood that wiped out all the bridges except Central ave,I-10, and Mill ave. ? I took this picture from the south bank of the river at 7th st. facing north.
Wow!! Memories of that flood and the rumors that phoenix could be wiped out downstream from the Roosevelt Dam. I worked and lived in Phoenix but had to go to Tempe to the docs and left my car parked in front of Gammage to take a **** in the bushes while waiting for some 8 hours to get back into Phoenix!! The only bridge left standing to go over was the Old Mill Avenue bridge and they were using the railroad bridge (Old, too) to run Amtrak to get passengers to and from Tempe-Phoenix. Great memories. Thanks.

I recall him quit well. My mother used to love the way he would say humidity. He would say it differently on purpose. I think he said something like hum a ditty.

Anyway I remember him because my parents used to watch him. He was on channel 5 and it was called the 5 star news. I remember him doing the weather, but he might have done other news as well. My first memories of him are from the late 50's. He was still working into the 60's and actually left for a time, but returned.

Oh, I have to mention this. It seems to me he would always wear a checkered sport coat. No tie. He seemed like a nice guy. Good memories of him.

Oh, yeah - I had lots of friends in high school who lived in the Sherwood Heights area, between Thomas and the National Guard base. I've noticed that very few homes go up for sale there - the residents tend to stay there. Still a nice area, definitely has its own unique vibe.

Art Brock always spoke of "Hume-a-diddy."

Marge Wright of Pets on Parade lived in the neighborhood of 56th. St. just north of Thomas Rd. That was and is an interesting neighborhood with a great view of Camelback Mountain when you drive north on 56th. St. Motorola had two facilities nearby and the National Guard Armory is close by. The Arizona Country Club and Arcadia are a stones throw.

I looked up the Marge Wright house ( 3623 N. 54th. Court). I do believe she lived in a Ralph Haver home. She died in her sleep in 2014. She loved and helped animals for 60 years.

I worked at the Motorola offices on 56th St. Now it's a charter school.

I enjoyed the industrious girls who roller skated through the traffic selling beers for a buck a can.

I bought a T shirt from one of the venders walking through the traffic, as I was stuck trying to get across the bridge.
I think I still have it somewhere. It said something about surviving the "great flood".
