I agree in the freedom of religion but I can't seem to grasp this religious sector since i was born and raised as a Catholic..but I'm not a church goer.

But If I may ask, does anybody here member of Satanist group or know somebody who is? I'm just curious about this group.

Satanists don't actually worship Satan. That's a very misunderstood perception. It's more of a "me first" philosophy without a real deity. They are really Athiests who choose to believe in personal good more than greater good, without actually harming anyone else.

Solution: Separation of Church and State.

Oh yeah, the founding fathers already tried that and it is widely ignored.

Correct. They aren't about sacrificing babies or animals ("- Do not harm little children.
- Do not kill non-human animals unless you are attacked or for your food. ") like many people tend to think.
They are about following no one but yourself.

In fact some of their beliefs about individuality align with Libertarian principles.

This is picking favorites. As a taxpayer I dislike that Phoenix has this tradition at all.

Hopefully this stunt will open some eyes up to that fact and not be mad that a bunch of non-Christians are holding the invocation.

Why would a group want to be named after an angel the Bible says is the loser in the end? And then again why would a group of atheist want to named after an angel from the Bible?

They're not atheists. Atheism is the absence of belief. These people believe in something so they're not atheists.

I'm pretty sure they don't care at all about your bible.

It's my understanding that the group in question is pushing this simply to expose the hypocrisy of the situation. Personally, I think prayer should be removed from public meetings. It does not offend me but it opens up a can of worms like this. The prayer needs to be open to all or done away with at the meetings.

Not exactly. Atheism is the absence of belief in a higher power or deity. I'm an atheist and believe in many things but a god is not one of them.
