I agree I hate when we get these high dew points it's too early to get these monsoon weather patterns already. Make it stop already.

Depends on what part... West Garden Grove (near Los AL and Cypress) is nice - the East side (Korea Town and surrounding) is Garbage Grove... Opposite for Anaheim - west (near Buena Park and Stanton) is Anaslime (as is area around Disney Land) - but farther east, Anaheim Hills is nice.

The entire area has gone to crap though (compared to 20-30 years ago)...

Like asufan stated; if you lean left and like the idea of government interjection in every aspect of your life, LA County is a better choice - although all of CA has been plagued with the issues spewing from LA & SF.

It takes a certain kind of person to "want" to live in CA (from somewhere else) - and I'm happy to trade places with those types from AZ (I just hope other transplants don't bring liberal / big government baggage to AZ).

There's no way you're getting something that's comparable for those prices. A place that costs $1,100 here in Phoenix would go for closer to $2,000 in even the bad parts of Orange County.

That's not true. I live near downtown right now, and my apt isn't the greatest but still paying $$$ due to location. And I've spent enough time around there and looked. I can easily get a halfway decent one bedroom for $1,300/mo out there, people love to exaggerate. We aren't talking Huntington Beach or Newport, I know what rent is out there, and it varies by neighborhood and city

psr13 is right, you wont get much for $1300 (I'm not trying to discourage you, just being honest)...

A very mediocre 800 sq ft 1BR apt built in the 70s is gonna cost you $1460+ (ask me how I know) ...and tenants pay water, trash, sewer + must have renters insurance, so its over $1500 before electric and gas (even though most don't have gas)... if you end up in something cheaper than that, its gonna be a real hell-hole (I'm talking strait up ghetto crap! - $1500 is an extremely avg apt is a very avg area)

I'm not sure what an $1100 apt is like in Phoenix, but please don't get your hopes up in CA - you WILL be disappointed... on the other hand, if you're liberal, everything I said was a lie and you should move here tomorrow (or at least before I get there )

I've seen ranges from $1300-$1600/month for avg or less apts in the areas I've looked in, but I make $52k/year, so even then, $1600/month is still easily doable on my income, and I can do my job anywhere (truck driver).

Not everyone is a $10/hr dreamer with unrealistic expectations

Stop bashing the man for choosing CA. If you make enough money politics have a marginal impact.
