I've found Accuweather to be the most accurate source (for CA anyway)

The forecasts always fluctuate. Lets hope the lowering trend continues. But as someone else pointed out, the long range forecast shows temps staying above 110 for quite some time. No relief in sight, even if it isnt record shattering excessive heat.

May I ask how much time those rooting for 120 actually plan to be outside exerting themselves ? Zonies like myself love the outdoors but never root for extreme temps. Apache Lake always an option as it is never crowded. I swam in all 4 SRP Lakes from Saguaro to Roosevelt and the water was quite chilly this past week. The open desert still allows for rapid cooling with next to no humidity.

This mornings updated NWS 7 day just bumped Sun&Mon up 2 degrees each:

Fri 106/Sat 112/Sun 120/Mon 119

Note: Sunday's forecast is the first time in 3 years that the NWS has forecasted 120 or higher for Phoenix. Last time was June 29th 2013, forecast was 120, actual high ended up being 119. I remember that day, I was home most of the day, but had to go out to my pickup at noon (temp 115) to check something and it was the hottest air I felt since experiencing a humid 100 in Dallas, TX back in July 2000

I will absolutely make a point of spending some time outside, gotta enjoy the rare heat when you can ... but I do reserve the right to go into the pool afterward! Haha. This would be the *perfect* weekend to jump into a nice, cool natural body of water, though ... makes me think about memories of rafting down the Colorado River and the contrast of the sun and the heat with the icy cool water.

Thanks for noting this...I find that the NWS is usually more "conservative" (read: lower) with their heat forecasts than weather.com, especially, but also to an extent accuweather and wunderground. So if NWS is saying 120, then I take more notice than if I see another outlet say 120. It's interesting they're conservative with the actual numbers but aren't shy about issuing heat watches and warnings frequently, even for times when it's not that unusually hot. Although in fairness I think this weekend it is definitely warranted.

Ugh. Not excited to see this forecast. At all.

On a side note, I was up in Flag and the GC over the weekend, where it was in the mid-70's. I hated coming back down the 17 towards PHX and watching the mercury soar. So depressing.

Flagstaff will be in the 90s - maybe high 90s in the barren places. When the June inferno gets fired up, there is no where to run, nowhere to hide. It's better to just stay home and hope the ac keeps working.
