I live in th3 Happy valley road/67th avenue area...Happy valley road is a 45mph road for the most part; typically, most cars are doing 60-65. 67th avenue, is a residential area, with some commerical, high schools, and its 2 lanes in each direction; speed limit 40 in most areas; typical drivers doing 55-60.

Even if I am doing 5-10 mph OVER the limit, I'm being tailgated, cutoff, and looked at like I am a moron..

And, of course, you know the same thing happens on the highways here...

I dont want the speed limits lowered at all; it would just be much safer in this area, if folks just limited their crazy speeding to times of the day when no one was out around them....wanna do 100 on I 17; fine, do it at 2 am, not at 11 am. And, doing 20 over in residential areas is NEVER OK to me..
Welcome to Phoenix. You'll be one of us real soon. One of us...one of us

LOL. I'm trying to be good, but its harder and harder every day!

Every other aspect of living here, aside from a couple months of temps from hell, has been fantastic for us, I'll just have to be extra cautious until I get used to going 20-30 mph over the limit while driving anywhere..

Just saw this. Cops are going to be out enforcing speed limits this month.

“I’m not asking a lot,” he said. “I’m just asking you to dial it back to 75, 73 – just keep it in the normal range.”

Ill believe it when I see it..
I was on I 17 this afternoon, around 330pm, and most folks were doing 80-85 once you get north of northern avenue...then jumped on 101, west of i17, and it was almost just as fast..

Good for them. People have places to be and we have great roads and modern vehicles.

No one “obeys the speed limit” nor abides by every letter of the law. You admitted that you don’t, so what’s your point? 80 is nothing for our roads and vehicles like mine and many others. It’s not like people are flying around all over in beat up cars in inclement conditions on narrow roads around here. If it’s too scary for you, just keep to the right and you’ll be ignored to go at whatever speed you like.

I do stay in the right lane, and even so, plenty of drivers feel that I am not going fast enough, regardless of how fast I am going in the right lane..
and, even if I use a different lane, and try to "keep up with the flow", people like yourself who feel they dont have to "abide by every letter of the law", tailgate me, and weave in and around me, even if I am doing 70-80mph in a 65 zone..

I've been driving for 45 years, and never hit anyone, and haven't gotten a ticket for speeding EVER, so please dont tell me how to drive safely...if you drive the way you preach, its unlikely you will ever match my driving record..

You admit to going 80 in a 65 so according to you 15 over is allowable but any more is too much? Why do you get to determine the appropriate amount in which the law can be bent? I think it comes down to live and let live. Try not to worry so much about what others are doing.
