Right? I actually see more contrails in winter than summer. I can only guess that's because as our air cools down here, it also cools up there? All I know is that at 37,000' cruising altitude, its already close to 0 degrees, even in summer. Not sure if it gets colder up there in the winter or not, or if it remains constant.

Its kinda interesting how much "different" the skies are here than in the Midwest; I mean the sunrises, the sunsets, the cloud formations, even the super moons the last few nights have been so unique vs what we were used to in the Midwest..something about the desert air I guess, but we are in awe sometimes watching the sun rises and sun sets, and the last few nights with the super moon have just been incredible!

we're looking at buying a telescope now, since there are so many clear nights here every year versus the Midwest, you could actually get a lot of good usage out of a telescope out here...sort of the same mindset I have about buying a convertible, now that we live somewhere you can actually drive with the top down for several months a year!

This cloudy weather we have been having here is simply amazing. Makes me realize that I need to move somewhere with at least several cloudy days a week. Everything feels more laidback. I ran 4 times this week just because the sun wasn't blasting in my face like usual. I actually want to be outside! The trees look greener, the mountains look nicer, parks are less crowded, everything feels less rushed. I could take more days like these.

I rode my bike this morning and had to wear my coat, not real heavy but not a light jacket or a hoodie!! Those clouds really make a difference in temp

I just kept thinking, 'it will warm up later, be thankful you are not in NE'

I also love cloudy weather It just energizes me. That's why I live somewhere that is cloudy much of the time.

I love it year round in fact. If it's not cloudy then I'm not happy. Well, at least partly cloudy anyhow.

It's definitely much more pleasant (as you have found) to be outside longer without the sun screaming down on you. Another bonus with clouds is that the climates they are found in typically are much more humid and yes, lots of greenery.

Parts of the Pacific Northwest have areas that are quite cloudy but have comparatively mild weather.

If you are willing to have 4 distinct seasons with a greater variety of temperature changes and snow, some good cities for lots of clouds are Syracuse,NY (also Buffalo, Rochester, and Oswego), Erie, PA; Cleveland, OH. All of those places are consistently on the top 10 for cloudiest U.S. cities. I think that there are some cloudy places in Alaska as well
