Looks like COVID ER visits have decreased for 4 days straight. Hoping this trend continues.

The numbers have been so much better the last few days! I’m praying it’s not an anomaly and the mask requirements are starting to make a difference.

Stores are not enforcing masks at least in Tempe. They do not want confrontations according to staff. Under 40 Hispanics the biggest issues with no masks.

AZ hospitalizations spiked in one day from 7751 to 9394.

Maricopa hospitalizations jumped in one day from 4434 to 5742.

That's perhaps the lagging indicator of the positive cases we had. These are pretty big bumps for a daily increase.

Hopefully the numbers hospitalized will flatten out and come down.

The AZDHS site gives hospitalizations specifically for covid related treatment. According them, the number of covid hospitalized people has declined by about 1000 over the past several days, including yesterday. It peaked at 3517 on 7/12 and was 2564 on 7/27.

They are flattening or slightly decreasing already, have been for a bit now.

"Inpatient hospitalizations, ICU beds in use and emergency department visits by suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients all continued gradual decreases on Monday, according to hospital data reported to the state. Ventilators in use increased slightly from the day prior. But hospitals remain under high pressure, with many COVID-19 patients."

Guess the other states didn't figure it out all that well in February, eh? We're now one of 9 states show decreases in cases over the week, with 21 showing increases...

This is what happens with no national, organized response. It's going to be cyclical as states try to reopen and implement their own policies. Now the cycle has shifted and AZ is one of a handful of states decreasing while nearly half of the states are increasing.

Mask wearing is working, contrary to some people's comments when the mandate started. Hopefully we don't take our foot off the gas now and start opening schools, that would be a huge mistake at this time.
