Since when have I had an issue with "white flight"? Show me the post in which I brought that up as a problem... it certainly isn't something I bemoan here in the city. If you have a hard time living around black people... then I am more than happy seeing you move out of the city.

I can tell you and others have hurt feelings by those of us that prefer not to stay living in the city, but your assumptions of us not wanting to live around black people are the exact assumptions that I've been defending. You and others are upset that people don't choose to live near you and immediately throw the race card, when in actuality, many of us just don't like city living. We like to visit and patronize establishments we're interested in and then be on our way.

Now if/when the standard of living and amenities change, I expect more will come and stay in da 'burgh. Until then, however, the amount of people is going to lessen or stay the same.

I am, for one, 100% satisfied with you living far outside the city, as you have for decades. Please don't ever change.

Pittsburgh is probably one of the cities in the country which has had the least amount of white flight, all things considered. Therefore I'd say it's far less true here than elsewhere that people choose the suburbs primarily for white flight.

Pittsburgh is one of the few larger American cities that still has a white majority so it does make total sense white flight wasn't a major issue here. It of course happened in some areas, but most neighborhoods lost population for reasons besides that. The Great Migration partially missed Pittsburgh which led to a smaller African American population here than many other older nearby cities.

Lots of city still have a white majority, and Pittsburgh's white majority is largely due to the fact that it never attracted a significant Latino population. At 26%, Pittsburgh has a larger black population than most of America's largest cities, including places like New York and Houston.
